Raccoon Creek Recovery
Raccoon Creek Recovery Project
Independence Conservancy has launched this comprehensive biological survey of Raccoon Creek. This two-year study will show what is getting better (recovering) or worse (needing recovery) on the creek and its major tributaries in Beaver, Allegheny and Washington counties.
Expanding Our
Watershed Stewardship Efforts

The Raccoon Creek Recovery Project will identify the sources of problems like pollution and erosion, and will engage the public to suggest logical, do-able projects that will increase biodiversity and overall stream health. The compiled results will help Independence Conservancy, and others, prioritize future land reclamation and grant-seeking efforts aimed at restoring the watershed.

Scientific research is being conducted by Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. of Moon Township. CEC will showcase the study’s findings via an online ArcGIS StoryMap, including the rich history and natural resources of the Raccoon Creek Watershed.
